Travels of Ireland

 Hi!
Sorry I have not blogged lately. We have bee on the move and haven't had the best internet connection. But don't worry! This blog post will tell you everything.
First of all we went to Kilkenny and saw the Kilkenny castle . It was really nice and had hand painted wallpaper and 500 old paintings that belonged to the owners. There was a green field and a playground with a mini climbing wall. For those of you who are wondering, no one named Kenny was killed in Kilkenny.

After the castle, we went to a church just outside of Kilkenny. It had a big,  Huge, GINORMOUS  round tower that you could climb up with 7 flights of stairs! People used the tower to escape the vikings thousands of years ago. We went up and could see all of Kilkenny from the top. It was pretty cool.

Then, we traveled to Cork to visit some of our relatives. They were very nice. I honestly have no idea how they are related to us. The good news was that they had a dog that we could play with. Her name was Fawn. She was very playful and fun. After we played with the dog, one of our relatives, Elaine, put on a movie for us so that we would not be bored. The party lasted until 12:30 pm. We only stayed up 'til 11:30, but we were still ready to go to sleep.

Next, we went to Dingle and mainly hung out at the beach. It was cold and full of dirty seaweed, so we didn't go swimming. We also saw the grave stones of pretty close relatives. Me and Lilly put wild flowers on them.

Finally, we went to Clonakilty and met another relative. This time one on my dad's side. She told interesting storys. I will tell you one of her storys later. Also, she was nice and friendly and made us scones.

On the way home we stopped in Blarney to kiss the Blarney Stone. I have no clue where this legend came from, but it says that if you kiss the Blarney Stone you will give better speeches and stuff like that. I think it is just a touristy thing to do and gives you nothing at all. Originally they would hang you by your feet off the castle and this is the story of why they stopped doing that:

A long time ago before they put up
metal bars to protect you from falling,
to kiss the Blarney Stone you had to be
hung by your feet over the castle walls.
But one day, a sailor and his crew came
to kiss the Blarney Stone. The sailor had
his friends grab his feet and hang him over.
The problem was, they dropped him.
He fell down and the only reason he lived
was he landed in a tree.
Now, so that doesn't happen, they do
it from the inside instead of the out.

So now it is safe to kiss the Blarney Stone, though it is still scary.

That's all for today!
Bye for now and keep reading!
